About the product

Polymer composite railway sleepers and timbers:

Polymer composite railway sleeper is a better alternative to wooden or concrete sleeper that are usually used for railways in our country. This product, that is new to Ukraine, combines advanced physical and mechanical properties with economic effectiveness of use over the long term.

Railway sleepers and timbers made of polymer composite material are perfect for curved railway tracks and railway switches. They are also an optimal solution when it comes to placing on bridges, complex areas of the railway, as well as for use in high moist and dampness conditions in the places of operation.

ADVANTAGES
PRODUCT

PRODUCT FEATURES

Together with standard characteristics of railway sleepers, such as hardness index and rigidity index, usage of polymer composite railway sleepers is an ultimate solution for high humidity environments, environments with aggressive operating conditions and sites, where usage of concrete railway sleepers is impossible and placing wooden sleepers involves their short-term replacement.

Composite sleepers and timbers, unlike wooden ones, do not rot, are not amenable to moisture, water, sudden temperature changes, and difficult climatic conditions and retain their original physical and mechanical properties even over time.

They have a high level of sound absorption and reduction of vibration level when passing of rolling stock.

They are perfect for use for car tracks in the cities, since their service life is more than 50 years and they can be used by the road services to optimize transportation routes of the city traffic.

Specifications manual

Proof loads for polymer composite sleepers and timbers must be not less than 130kN (tf) in the underrail section and 98kN (tf) in the midsection.

When heated from 25°C to 70°C, the maximum increase in the length of polymer composite sleepers and timbers should be 5 mm, when cooled from 18°C to minus 70°C the maximum reduction should be 1 mm.

Iron spike pull-out resistance must be not less than 350 kgf/cm2.

Polymer composite sleepers and timbers are electrically isolated, electric impedance is not less than 20000 Ohm.

Consistency value of polymer composite sleepers and timbers is not less than 1000 kg/m3.

Elasticity modulus of polymer composite sleepers and timbers at bending is not less than 2300mPa.

Static flex cracking resistance of polymer composite sleepers and timbers is not less than 27 MPa.

Polymer composite sleepers and timbers must be used for building of new railway tracks and exploitation and maintenance of the old ones in accordance with reference documentation of Ukrazaliznytsia, production facilities and metropolitan railway.

Products advantages

Environmental friendliness:

In terms of environmental friendliness, one of the main reasons for using polymer composite sleepers is the worldwide trend for the prohibition of using creosote in sleeper industry, global fight against deforestation, as well as accumulation of polymer waste as a result of human life and activities.

Since railway sleepers and timbers are used from 100% recycled polymeric materials, partially their production is a solution to the global problem of plastic recycling, at the same time they can be recycled after the expiration of the service life or forced major repairs of the tracks using polymer composite sleepers.
